What makes Landmark different from other churches I’ve attended?
We believe the church is a “family of families.” Our desire is to encourage families to be all God wants them to be, since the strength of the church is dependent upon the strength of individual families (Deuteronomy 6:7; Ephesians 6:1-4). We are committed to “creating space” for families to spend time together (Ephesians 5:16). We do not offer a host of programs that run families ragged. We would much rather encourage you to spend more time around your family table enjoying one another’s company, engaging in Christian hospitality toward your neighbors in your community and “doing life together” with your spiritual family.
What should I wear?
Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. Many people wear casual clothes but if you would like to wear a suit and tie, that’s ok, too.
How long does the service last?
Our service begins at 10:15am and usually ends about 11:30am.
What can I expect when I walk in the door?
You can expect folks to be socializing in the foyer with coffee and mingling about, while others will be finding a seat in the sanctuary, waiting for the worship service to begin.
What can I expect when service is over?
The first Sunday of the month, we have a family dinner after the service. We do this so our members and visitors have an opportunity to get to know one another and to invite our community in for a free meal. If you are able to bring something to share, then please do. If not, come and enjoy new friendships anyway. We would love to have you!
What musical worship “style” should I expect?
In our weekly services, you’ll experience a variety of songs and instruments. All of our songs are carefully chosen; we want the best of the best. Songs from church history: the most biblically accurate hymns of our faith. Songs from today: the most theologically sound and musically interesting offerings… not chosen because they’re the most popular, but because they teach solid scriptural truth. Our musical worship attempts to be Christ-Centered and not entertainment driven with the goal of glorifying God while edifying and educating the believer and testifying to those who don’t know Him.
What happens during a typical worship service?
Most services open with a song or two then either testimony or prayer time followed by the sermon then followed up with 2-3 more songs to end our time together with some announcements and encouraging thoughts as we’re dismissed to serve the Lord in the coming week.
Will I be put on the spot during any of the services?
Absolutely not! We will not embarrass you by pinning a name tag on you or asking you to speak to the congregation.
Will I be expected to donate money if I attend a service?
You are welcomed as our guest and the worship service is our gift to you. We do not in any way expect you to give money to our church unless you feel led to do so.
I have children of all ages…. What about them?
We believe it’s important for families to worship together. We have grown accustomed to the presence of children in the service, and the children grow accustomed to being a part of the corporate worship experience. No one will stop you at the door if you try to enter our service with your small children but we do encourage folks to utilize our infant nursery which is a well-staffed and safe environment for children under age 4.
